3 Fears Essay

Fears of Living in America

America is a great, but scary place to live. It has many things to offer that other countries do not. However, it does not mean it is perfect. People that live here in the United States have fears just like in any other country; they might not be as bad. My three greatest fears are the inability to rebuild the states after the hurricanes, the rising of fuel prices, and the war in Iraq.

One if my greatest fears is the inability to rebuild the states severely damaged by the hurricanes. If the states do not get rebuilt, then people are never going to want to go back there. Some residence that have evacuated said that they do not want to go back because they are worried that another bad hurricane will come again. They will go back, get what is left and then find another place to live. The cost of the damage is billions of dollars. That money will have to come from the government and might cause harm to the economy.

The economy is already being hurt by fuel prices. Some people are having a hard time affording gas. For instance, fuel prices were so high in Georgia; some students did not have to attend school for a couple of days. The gas prices are rising again because another hurricane hit the oil rigs. This causes the oil to leak out and becomes harder to get. So oil is more expensive for the United States. The bad thing is that we, as a nation cannot do anything about it, but try not to use so much of it.
The war in Iraq scares me the most. I have a friend on the front line in Iraq. He has been there for almost four months and he says it is awful. I am scared to death it will not end anytime soon. If it does not end soon, that means more Americans will be killed, Americans that do not deserve it, Americans that have families and babies. It is also costing the United States a lot of money. I understand that freedom is not free and we have to stand up for something. America is strong and will always be. I also feel that being against the war is wrong to a certain level. The United States is in the war and nothing is going to be done about it. So I think everybody should just come together and pray about it and support our troops.
Although these are hard times, I have faith in America and we will get through these all of this. There is not much that can be done about these instances but love and support for one another. I feel that if we all come together and support one another and help each other all of this will come through. Affording gas can be easier by car pooling, and the states can be rebuilt by everyone giving donations and helping.
